    Cotton swabs are not thought to release cells as well as polyester swabs and hence polyester swabs are preferred. However, if the number of unsatisfactory cytologies is reasonable it is probably ok to continue using. We will provide you the contact information of IANS European members for more input re: obtaining the swabs.

    Hi, i am coming from switzerland. The cytology we do normally with a cotton swab. Now, I tried to got an polyester swab, but I could not find one firma where I can buy it. So is the preferd anal swab really a polyster swab? Do you have any ideas where I get them?
